Unflattering

I cannot determine whether it is my picture taking abilities or my outfit that looks so unflattering today. It could just be the way my body has been lately, too. Maybe it is a culmination of the three. Or, maybe it is just the gloomy, dreary weather that is getting the best of me. Whatever it is, I refuse to change my clothes. The groceries will get purchased just the same, despite how I look. I'll have to consider a change-of-outfit later this afternoon, sort of like they do for awards ceremonies, only not so glamorous. :)

Today's day consists of running to get my hubby a new tie for a wedding this weekend (super pumped, by the way), accomplishing grocery shopping (bleh), and preparing food for our grill out tonight (which may be a "grill in" and is actually pretty exciting...details to follow).

Purple People Eater

The last time I wore this scarf, I injured myself. The injury was not a result of wearing the scarf. Nevertheless, I do not wear this scarf often since it reminds me of pain. :)

I'm so excited for our play date today with J.J. The last time E and J.J. were together, they kissed! Needless to say, Daddy was not happy with E. He had hoped she would wait until she was at least 25.

E had her 15 month check up last night. According to the doctor, everything seem to be going well. Of course, as parents, we still worry about her. Is it ok that she isn't walking independently yet? What about her speech? Time outs already? It's a challenge to remember that everything will happen in its own time. We just want what is best for our children. I do not think that is asking for much. :)

What I Am Currently Reading...

Ok. Well, I am not currently reading it. I finished it while on vacation back in March. Tonight is our book club meeting to discuss the book.

Moon Over Manifest, written by Clare Vanderpool, is about a girl who is sent away by her father to stay with a pastor in his home town, Manifest Missouri. It takes place during the mid 1930's, and it stays quite true to history. The story is about Abilene's adventures in her new town and discovering the answers to a mystery, as well as information about her father. It is a piece of historical fiction, and it could easily be used as supplemental material in the classroom. I enjoyed reading it, but I'd have to say that is wasn't my *favorite* book.

We'll see what my fellow teachers in book club say tonight! Now for the most important question...what should I order at Starbucks tonight?

Hairy Situation

It's so interesting how children and messes go hand in hand. I put forth quite an effort to keep my house in order, tidy, and clean. The same goes for my daughter. When I see children in public with messy faces or dirty clothing, I squirm. "Is it that difficult to take care of your child and keep her clean?" Thoughts such as these cross my mind. Does that make me judgemental?

I fail to remember that my daughter isn't always perfectly groomed or that children will be children. No matter how hard we try as moms (or dads), children will find a way to disturb whatever cleanliness we work so hard to maintain.

Case in point:

This is not the first time I have found a stray cheerios in E's hair.

Blooms Away

It's hard to believe that yesterday was rainy and gloomy. Today is sunny and warm. I get to play dress-up a little bit today. I actually have a professional commitment today that does not have to do with cheerios, finger walking, or puzzles. I am looking forward to being around teachers again, even if it is only for a couple of hours.

I love feeling that this shirt invokes. Even if we haven't fully called spring forth, this top sure makes me feel like it is here!

Wet...

I having been looking forward to today since Sunday. 60 degree weather was predicted. Finally, spring was on its way! Or, so I thought. When I awoke this morning, I opened the blinds only to find that everything is wet and dreary. So in honor of this wet day, I am refusing to blow dry my hair. :) Yes, I am a rebel. I have yanked out my Ralph Lauren galoshes and dressed in drabby colors to boot. Get it? Boot?

Pictures of Me?

I was uploading pictures today from our recent trip to Orlando and started to wonder why there are hardly any pictures of me. After uploading, I proceeded to peruse through the other "folders" in our picture folder. Again, hardly any pictures of me. I know this sounds vain, but really. Then it dawned on me. I am now a mom. Mom's are often void from pictures. We are usually the ones behind the camera. Is this fair? I think not. The timer on my camera and I are going to start to become close friends. I would really like at least one photo of LiLi and I together. A good photo at that!

I think not.

I have been set to start up my blog (again, times two). Yup. I think not. Well, I certainly am not posting any OOTD posts for a while. I am laid up, on the couch, in my comfy clothes. I am anxiously waiting for my ankle to heal.

I awoke this morning and had my husband open the blinds so I could at least see the grass outside. I think not. It snowed. AGAIN! April Fools? I wish.

My plan was to eat breakfast and jump in the shower. You guessed it. I think not. There is no jumping for this gal. A bath may be what the doctor ordered.

Crossing my fingers for a quick healing.
